About Us
The Department of orthopaedics was established in the year 1984. The Department was started by Dr. J.N. Sridhar Murthy & Dr. T. Krishna Reddy and at present we have 17 Faculty. The department has a separate Out Patient wing which caters to nearly 200 patients/day. We have 90 beds with three teaching Units. The Department also has a Seminar hall, Museum and well equipped Library. The department admits 17 M.S. Orthopaedics students every year. Till Today 96 postgraduates have graduated from our Department. 150 undergraduates posted in the Orthopaedics department in batches. Department regularly conducts academic activities like Seminars, journal clubs, subject reviews, subject symposia, clinical meetings & mortality meetings. Nearly 15 to 20 papers/case reports are regularly presented in various academic forums, Bangalore Orthopaedic Society (BOS), Karnataka Orthopaedic Association KOA) & Indian Orthopaedic Association (IOA) conferences.The department has conducted BOS & KOA conferences at KIMS.
Facilities
The department Out Patient wing has 8 Consultation Rooms, One Minor OT, One dressing room, One plaster application room, One Plaster cutting room & a Demonstration hall. Speciality clinics Conducted by the Department: •Arthroplasty •Arthroscopy •Hand clinic •CTEV clinic •Spine Clinic The department has all equipments for trauma surgeries, arthroplasty, arthroscopy, spine surgery and Illizarov surgery . The Department has state of the art operating Theatres (2 modular OT). We have 3 Image Intensifiers, 2 Arthroscopy units , One Endospine Unit and Orthopaedic Fracture tables.
