About Us
Department of Physiology is located at the second floor of the Pre clinical block of college campus at Banashankari II stage. It is spread over an area of 18,000 sq.ft with spacious and well equipped laboratories. The department has 9 faculties with PG qualification who have completed their post graduation from various other institutions. This has helped the department to progress with the expertise of staff exposed to different learning atmospheres. There are 6 PG guides in the department to impart excellent training to Post Graduates. The department imparts training to 150 MBBS students and 2 MD students every year. Apart from these training is also provided to UG & PG Dental, Physiotherapy & Nursing students. Discipline is a priority and is strictly enforced by the entire faculty in the department. Students are monitored regularly for their attendance and performance in periodic assessments. Parents are intimated regarding the progress of their wards regularly. Below average students are identified at a very early stage and mentoring is done for them. To enrich the knowledge and bring about competitive spirit among students, National & state level Quiz & CMEs are conducted every year for Under Graduate & Post Graduate students. A perfect combination of experienced faculty and good infra structure provides an ideal learning experience to the young aspiring doctors.


Facilities
Department has four well equipped and spacious Laboratories, Seminar Hall, Library & Demonstration rooms. Haematology lab has a seating capacity of 90 students where undergraduates get to work at separate stations. For every 13 students there is a faculty to guide them during their practical hours. Clinical lab is in a separate wing equipped with 20 clinical beds. The students get to learn the art of clinical examination on simulated patients. Human Physiology lab has a seating capacity of 60 students where undergraduates get to work at separate stations. Adequate number of Computerised spirometers and ECG machines are available for training. The student gets training in non hematological basic clinical investigations. Department also has a Research Lab and is actively involved in Research. Our faculty regularly publish scientific papers in PUBMED indexed National and International Journals. The Departmental library has around 200 titles with latest editions for reference by Staff & PGs. A departmental museum is being developed with charts, models, & Information on History & Evolution of Physiology
