About Us
Department of General Medicine is comprehensive department which deals with diagnosis and treatment of Common Medical Problems. The Department is involved in the teaching of undergraduate students (MBBS, BDS, physiotherapy and Pharmacy) from 1982, and post graduates (MD Medicine, MDS, physiotherapy and pharmacy) since 1991. Located in the Heart of the city of Bengaluru the Department of Medicine KIMS Hospital caters to patients from simple fever to complex problems. The department has had the best of the brains and kindest of the hearts in providing quality medical care and training physicians for the future, this aptly summarizes the importance of department. Department is headed by Prof Dr.Nagesh G N. He presently looks into the departmental administration. He is supported by team of 8 Professors, 3 Associate professors, 3 Assistant professors, 4 senior residents. Yearly 10 Post Graduates take admissions in the department for M.D. Gen Medicine programme .Collectively there are 30 post graduates in the department who work 24/7 X 365 days tirelessly under the guidance of senior faculty to provide medical care and comfort to the ailing public. Keeping the vision of the institution, we focus on education ,research, and patient care, giving equal attention to all three disciplines.We have the facility for treating HIV/AIDS patients through ART center, treatment of Tuberculosis through NTEP (RNTCP & DOTS services).The department is supported by Cardiology, Nephrology and Pulmonology. On an average 180-200 patients come for consultation to OPD daily and 20-25 admissions /day. Our department has treated more than 5000 patients suffering from COVID-19 PNEUMONIA during Covid -19 pandemic with least mortality with regular follow up of patients. Our Department was awarded KRITAGNYA Award for selfless service during Covid-19 pandemic. Dr. YOGITHA.C professor of our department was awarded “COVID-19 WARRIOR AWARD” on Doctor’s day celebration from INDIAN MEDICAL ASSOCIATION for her dedicated and exceptional service for patients suffering from Covid -19.
