About Us

The Department of Anaesthesiology was started in the year 1991 with 6 OTs. It has steadily grown in the last 30 years, having 21 major and 11 minor OTs including modular OTs. It started with under graduate teaching in Anaesthesia, later in 1998 post-graduation was started with 2 MD and 4 diploma seats. Now, we have 22 MD seats. It has become a center of clinical excellence with 17 faculty members and a strong paramedic work force. We have a well-structured academic activity for undergraduates, interns and post graduates. The department conducts CME’s, workshops, symposiums and conferences related to anaesthesia, critical care and pain management. Post graduates are exposed to latest curriculum, equipment and technology. The department also has diploma in OT technology. The faculties are guest speakers in various CME’s and conferences conducted by ISA, ISPA, AOA, Regional anesthesia and Pain societies. The department is well recognized by RGUHS and various allied societies and organization.

Facilities

The Department collectively manages the patients perioperatively, with preoperative care, by running pre-anaesthetic clinics, intraoperative care, post-operative services at post-operative care unit (PACU) and surgical intensive care unit (SICU). Acute and chronic pain and palliative medicine services are also provided. The department caters to broad specialties such as general surgery, orthopedics, obstetrics and gynecology including labor analgesia, otorhinolaryngology, ophthalmology including super specialties like urology, neurosurgery, thoracic surgery, pediatric surgery, plastic surgery, vascular surgery and dental surgeries including pedodontics and facio-maxillary surgeries. The department has state-of-the-art operation theatres equipped with latest air conditioning system, basic and advanced multipara monitors and modern workstations. We provide non-operating room anaesthesia in MRI suites, CT room, endoscopy suites including ERCP and MRCP. We also support bronchoscopy. We are equipped with fiber optic video laryngoscopes and USG guided facilities for regional anesthesia and pain management. We also have a well-established library with latest journals and digitalization.
